I Don't Get It

002

It's March 2nd. It's currently 78 degrees. We've opened the windows to let fresh air in. Can someone please explain to me why on earth southwest Missouri is under a WINTER STORM WATCH?

I noticed that earlier today too! What the heck? I know it's supposed to snow tomorrow, but still.

Remember this little ditty about weather announcements - we are watching for the warning. In other words a watch means there is a possibility of the weather happening and a warning means it most likely will happen. We get them all the time here along the shore of Lake Ontario in western NY. And now that you have that watch we'll get it as well. Actually the warning is a flood watch because of the sudden warm temps which mean rapid melting of any snow cover. We have the same thing as we are to get up to the high 40's/low 50's on Monday and I have almost a foot of snow in my yard. Then the bottom is to drop out of the temps and everything will be covered with ice. Yuck!

that is missouri for you!!!!!!!!! after warm temperatures, it sure is harder to endure the cold temperatures.

Yep - I am well aware of the difference between storm watches and warnings - I just think it's crazy that it can be 78 degrees one day and snowing the next.
