Yes, I have “finished” my Christmas knitting, a full 3 weeks before Christmas. I decided to make Robert another pair of socks, but there’s no pressure of that December 25th date with those. How’d I finish, you ask? Well, some folks might think this is cheating, but it was an honest mistake. I’ve been working on the Tidal Wave Socks for my niece, and finished them on Friday. This is J. Knits, Wyoming colorway. However, when I finished the first sock, I had a sneaking suspicion that it might be too big, so I tried it on. Yep. It fits me perfectly – which would be lovely if they were for me. Except I wear a size 10 and she wears a size 8 shoe. But then I remembered a pair I’d knit earlier in the year which came out a little too snug for me, so I’ve never worn them, and voila! Christmas socks are finished, and I’ve got another pair for me that I’ll wear. It helps that they exactly match this cute t-shirt I bought last week.
I’ve also never shared my finished Claudia hat that I made for my hairdresser. I gave it to him last week, and he loved it. Unfortunately, I never got a photo of anyone modeling it. I really liked this pattern, but be forewarned that the crown comes out really pointy. Just watch as you’re getting close and adjust your decreases accordingly. I ended up ripping back 2 inches after I’d finished and reknitting the top. It was still slightly pointy, but much better.
Yesterday, I had the horrible realization that I had absolutely NOTHING on my needles! No wips! How could that be? Granted, I’ve been a little distracted finishing up my clean sweep organizational kick that I’m on, and was finishing getting over 5,000 songs transferred to iTunes, but still – nothing to knit? I grabbed my now available trusty Addi circs size 1 1/2, some Berroco Sox and quickly twittered Kate to find out how many stitches I needed for the Gentleman’s socks for Robert. He was driving me to church for our annual Christmas concert – this one with Babbie Mason. We had the first concert last night, and there are two more this morning. That lady definitely has some pipes, and it was an awesome blessing to be able to sing with her.
Tonight, Steve and Ginger are coming over to watch the Survivor finale with us, so I’m thinking I’ll also cast on some dishcloths for my parents. I cleaned their house yesterday, and all they have are sponges! So maybe I’m not “quite” done with my Christmas knitting after all.

Does this mean you’re not knitting me that big sweater for Christmas?
Good luck and have fun out there today!
Lucky you. Christmas present complete and a new pair of socks for yourself. Love that colorway.
