I can’t believe that it’s almost Christmas! We have decked the halls and trimmed the tree, and I’ve still been working on my “clean sweep” phase, which has distracted me somewhat from knitting. I spent the greater part of yesterday cleaning out our paper files and getting Robert to shred them – they filled a 55 gallon trash bag – and I copied all my old photo CD’s to the laptop and backed them up on the external hard drive. I’ve got 7 envelopes of negatives that I need to have Wal-Mart or Walgreens convert to digital for me, and that’s it for the photos. All my other negatives were previously stored in the basement and destroyed when it flooded in the spring.
The next big project is to inventory our books and get them all loaded into Library Thing. I purchased the Coolcat bar code scanner to help with that process, although many of our books are so old that there’s not a bar code to scan. Then we’ll attack the garage in the spring, and the Clean Sweep project will be complete! Robert mentioned yesterday how good it feels to have everything organized and to not have so much stuff cluttering our lives.
I’ve been working on the Gentleman’s Socks for Robert, but progress is really slow. I’ve also made several mini Christmas ornaments, inspired by our contest on our Knit Together podcast. There’s still one more ornament I want to finish, but this is what my mini tree looks like:

And this is our big tree:

We both get Christmas Eve as a holiday, so we’ll have two days off next week. I’m hoping to sneak in a little baking to have goodies to take to the family celebrations.

When you’re all set up on LibraryThing, find me – I am kateycp2k.
Sounds like you’ve been busy. You just reminded me that it’s time to make a dvd back up of my external hard drive. I don’t even want to think of the tons of shredding I still need to do.
Love the mini tree….very cute. I’m ready for Christmas. Kiddos are driving me crazy talking about how they can’t wait for Christmas.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I feel blessed to know you both and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!
