My Favorite Week

Christmas - 2008I love the week between Christmas and New Year’s. There are new “toys” to play with, such as the Mason Dixon Girls “Knitting Outside the Lines,” “Ocean Breezes,”, an iDog, a new cordless laser mouse, and a gorgeous Offhand Bag. He also got me an Adagio Tea Starter kit and the Yarn Harlot’s new “Never Not Knitting” calendar. (Robert did well with his Christmas shopping, right?) BTW, I definitely see more Offhand Bags in my future – they are awesome! And, with some of my Christmas money, I ordered some new way cool headphones for my iPod, and a new telephoto lens for my camera.
Christmas - 2008It was also a handmade gift sort of Christmas. My sister made me this fabulous lap blanket and tote bag – totally my colors – and my MIL made me a cute bag as well! I can never have enough bags!
But another reason I love this week, is because it’s a time to wrap up the current year and get ready for the next. I love to plan; I love to make lists and set goals. I’ve already cleaned out our paper files and Robert’s shredded them, and I’m in the (long) process of converting as much as possible to electronic versions of documents – I’m working on my recipes now. I’ve started working on my knitting plan for 2009; this worked really well for me in 2008; and Robert and I are thinking about our family goals for next year and how to achieve them. I’m a little disappointed that I’ve already cleaned out my closet – that’s always so much fun! :-)
Yeah, there’s still a bit of Type A in my personality!

  1. This is my favorite week as well. It’s so nice not having any obligations and being able to relax and enjoy family and friends.
BTW I really Enjoyed your ‘Knitting and the Bible’ section. I (happily) cannot believe how many references to knitting are in the Bible. Every Sunday I look forward to hearing some sort of Knitting/Sheep/Spinning/Weaving references. I keep telling my kids that knitting is a holy hobby lol… my son like to kid me about my knitting…ahem… obsession.
