We’ve been on the go a lot recently, with no end in sight until next month. For the first time ever, Robert and I ended up going to the same conference for work, which was held in San Antonio, TX. Since neither of us had been there before, we took an extra day of vacation before the conference to explore.
We saw the Alamo. Yeah, that’s it. I guess I was expecting some big historic fort, but it’s just sitting there in the middle of downtown SA.

It did have a pretty garden area, with this awesome old tree.

We also checked out the Riverwalk. Again, it was okay, but I was a little underwhelmed. Robert figured it out later when he asked, “I wonder if the fact that we were in Venice earlier this year has colored our impression?” I think he was exactly right.

We drove to Corpus Christi on Saturday and went to Padre Island National Seashore. It was beautiful there, unspoiled, and we spent a perfect day at the beach. There’s just something very healing about the combination of sun, sand, and sea.

Remember the Alamo

I remember the Alamo well. That is the place where we almost lost my little brother. I see it hasn’t changed in all that time.
Hey, if you ever come a little further South and East, let’s meet! I’ll take you to the nearby LYS! ;o)
