Play Ball!

Yes, it’s another sports-related post. Pretty much everyone in my family was born a St. Louis Cardinals fan, and we bleed Cardinal red blood. So it really wasn’t a surprise that when my favorite (and only) niece and her husband learned they were expecting their first child, that he or she would have to be a Cardinals fan as well. And when they learned he was a boy, they decided to pay homage to one of the greatest ever, and little Breckin’s middle name will be Musial, after of course, Stan “The Man” Musial.
Somehow in my family I’ve earned a Martha Stewart reputation for throwing parties, so hosting the baby shower became my project. And what better theme than a Cardinals’ themed shower?
We had St. Louis Cardinals decorations. We had St. Louis Cardinals plates and cups.

We had baseballs and St. Louis Cardinals cupcakes.

We had baseball cream cheese mints.

We had ball park food: hotdogs, nachos, cheese sauce, and (root) beer.

We played baseball bingo.

And some of the guests got in the spirit and wore Cardinals logo clothing.

Anyway, Lisa received lots of wonderful gifts for baby Breckin. I ran out of time and didn’t finish the Moderne Baby Blanket for him yet, but I’ve still got a few months before he arrives to finish it. Lisa didn’t seem to mind. :-)

Hi, for the baseball bingo, did you make the cards yourself, how did you make each card different? Cute party!

    Thanks,
    Linda

    • Actually, the new mommy’s mother-in-law was in charge of the games and made the cards. I think she just created them in a table in Microsoft Word, which made for easy changing of the cards, and printed them out on card stock. It was a lot of fun!
