My sis, dad, and I actually made our annual batches of peanut brittle last weekend, but with the Thanksgiving holiday, I didn’t have time to post. Every year we get together to make several pounds of peanut brittle to share with family and friends, and we look forward to that Saturday morning every year.
Some things are so predictable – Kathy and I will not being doing something “right,” and Dad will always “supervise” even though he says he doesn’t want to do it.
This year’s drama was the apparent peanut shortage, but thanks to Mama Jean’s, I found the raw Spanish peanuts at a reasonable price (can you believe Wal-Mart was trying to sell them for $4.99 a pound?). Then we had a syrup mix-up, but Robert came to our rescue by running to Price Cutter while we were cooking up the first batch.
By the end of the morning, though, we had success – yum!
